screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-16-51-50

A quick update to say that episode 5 has completed it’s 2nd edit by Anne Nicholson! Running at just over 22 minutes, we’ve now sent off the episode for visual effects, sound design and music.

We’re aiming to release the episode this November and we will send out a private link for you all to see it before the episode goes live to the public.

DVDs and blu-rays will be made up and sent off in November also.

The edit for episode 6 will start by the end of October and we hope to release it to our backers in December.

We will be shooting our Christmas episode, “Astrid’s Secret”, written by Roland Moore, on the 26th of November. This was down to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.

Thank you all for your continued support of Cops and Monsters.

We’re casting for a Scottish-based actress to play a zombie daughter in our Christmas episode. Information is below. If you’re interested please e-mail your CV, headshot and showreel to castings@sillyweefilms.co.uk.
“Cops and Monsters” is an award-winning, on-going supernatural drama following the cases of the Paranormal Investigation Team Scotland.
We’re shooting our Christmas episode in Scotland on the 26th of November and we are looking for Scottish-based actresses to audition for the role of Catherine Bennett, a 20-year old woman who has been turned into a zombie.
We’re looking for self-tapes to be sent by the 8th of November.
This is a paid position. Offering minimum wage for the day. We are only looking for actresses based in Scotland due to our budget.
The character is a wild zombie the entire time and a lot of physical acting is required.
The script is written by Roland Moore, an award winning writer who writes for Doctors and the hit BBC series, “Land Girls”.
Simon Weir (River City, The Acid House) and Wanda Opalinska (Peaky Blinders, Doctor Who) will appear in the episode as the two leads.

Introducing Wanda Opalinska – Christmas Special Casting

screen-shot-2016-09-28-at-11-59-19

With a month to go until we shoot our Christmas episode, “Astrid’s Secret”, by Roland Moore, we can now officially announce actress Wanda Opalinska, who will be playing the titular Astrid in the episode.

Wanda recent TV work includes: Silent Witness, Home Fires, Raised by Wolves. Other TV work includes: Peaky Blinders, The Vote and The Trials of Jimmy Rose.

She can currently be seen in the film ‘A Monster Calls’ and is a series regular in the Welsh language drama ‘Parch’.

As for why she’d like to play Astrid:

“I’ve not done a lot of Sci-Fi (aside from playing Justine in Faction Paradox, where I thoroughly enjoyed battling Sutekh), so this is a lovely opportunity to immerse myself in another world.

And who wouldn’t want to be in a series titled ‘Cops and Monsters’?”

We’re currently £498 away from being able to make the Christmas episode happen on our Indieigogo Campaign so if you’d like to help us you can check it out by clicking here.

Help Us Make Our Christmas Episode – Roland Moore’s Astrid Secret

We know people don’t like talking about Christmas too early, but like most of your favourite TV shows, we’re going into production with our yuletide special, aiming to shot it in November so we can release it online in December just in time for Santa Claus to deliver his presents to all the good little girls and boys.

Roland Moore, creator of “Land Girls” and writer of “Doctors” (amongst other things!) has scripted our Christmas special, “Astrid’s Secret”.

When PITS Commander Norris Fletcher drops in on Astrid Bennett’s house on his way to the office party, he intends to drag Astrid out of our house to avoid an awkward party on his own, little realising that Astrid is hiding a most terrible secret that can only end in disaster.

Shooting “Astrid’s Secret” will take 1 day with Simon Weir reprising his role of put-upon PITS Commander Norris Fletcher. Joining him will be Wanda Opalinska who has appeared in “Peaky Blinders”, “Silent Witness”, “Raised by Wolves”, “Man Down”, “Coronation Street” and many, many more projects. Wanda will be playing Astrid.

To make this happen we are running an Indiegogo campaign to raise £1200 which will end on the 30th of October. We’re offering signed scripts for this episode, DVDs of all of our current episodes so far, signed cast pictures, posters, and more in return for your support. You can find out more by clicking here.

Episode 5, “Revolution in a Teacup” will be picture locked in the next week and sent off for visual effects, sound design and music. We hope to release the episode by the end of October or the beginning of November. Episode 6, “Fight the Bite” will then go into the edit and we aim to release it to the public early next year, with our episode 6 backers receiving a link to watch the episode earlier.

We’ll resume filming “Volume 1” with the final part in the story being filmed in Spring 2017.

The Latest News

So what’s the latest news with Cops and Monsters?

Our editor Anne Nicholson is working hard on locking the picture for episode 5, “Revolution in a Teacup”. Once this is achieved, it’ll be sent off for visual effects, music and sound design. We’ll then release a private link to all of our episode 5 backers and prepare the DVDs of episodes 1-5 to send out to those who purchased the perk in our crowdfunding campaign.

Episode 6, “Fight the Bite”, will then be edited and the same procedure will be followed.

Episodes 5 and 6 will be released to the public in due course. “Revolution in a Teacup” will likely be released near the end of October, and we will release episode 6 publicly in early 2017 to keep you going until we can shoot the final episode of volume 1 in Spring.

All perks from our two recent crowdfunding campaigns that are finished/ready are being packed up and we’ll start posting them out early next week.

This weekend we’ll be at MCM Scotland to promote the series and our Q & A Panel will be on Saturday at 1pm in the Vidfest section.

We’re featured in this month’s issue of “Doctor Who Magazine” in the “Beyond the TARDIS” section as Sophie Aldred stars in episode 5 as vampire leader, Lady Audrey MacDairmid.

As you can see from the image above we’re hoping to shoot our Christmas episode this November if we can raise £1050 to do so. It’ll star Simon Weir as PITS Commander Norris Fletcher and a yet-to-be cast actress as PITS agent Astrid Bennett.

And that’s all of our news!

“Fight the Bite” Teaser

In the last few months we have been busy working on two brand new episodes of Cops and Monsters. “Revolution in a Teacup” by James T Harding and “Fight the Bite” by Laura Anderson.

Revolution in a Teacup is currently being edited and we hope to send it off for visual effects, sound design and music in the next couple of weeks. You can watch the trailer for that here.

Meanwhile episode 6, “Fight the Bite” has finished filming and you can have a little exclusive look at it in the video above.

We hope to raise some funds to shoot our Christmas special, “Astrid’s Secret”, written by Roland Moore, in November to be released sometime in December.

Then we’ll be taking a Winter hiatus before returning to shoot the final episode of Volume 1 in Early 2017!

Episode 6 – “Fight the Bite” Is Wrapped!

cam_e6-25

That’s a wrap on episode 6!

“Fight the Bite” by Laura Anderson took two days to film with our cast and crew. It was certainly an ambitious episode, with 25 pages shot over the two days. A massive congratulations to the team.

We faced a few issues such as time restraints and location issues but this is part and parcel with any production, yet seems magnified when you’re an indie project with a low budget.

The team worked extremely hard to overcome these problems and we’ve got all the footage in the can!

So what’s next for “Cops and Monsters”?

We’ll be at MCM Comic Con Scotland on the 24th and 25th of September, with our cast and crew panel on the Saturday, selling some merchandise and promoting the series.

Episode 5, “Revolution in a Teacup”, is currently being edited and we hope to release in October.

We’re hoping to raise some more money so we can shoot our Christmas episode, “Astrid’s Secret” by Roland Moore.

Next year we’ll aim to shoot a couple more minisodes to expand our show’s universe before returning to Volume 1 in May to shoot our 7th main episode, bringing to a close Volume 1 and the PITS’ case against Lycan A202 and The Cult of Many Faces… for now.

To everybody who has supported us, we thank you. We wouldn’t have this show without you.

We’re over the moon as we have now won two web-series awards, hopefully the start of many.

Filming resumes on episode 6, “Fight the Bite” this weekend, while “Revolution in a Teacup” is in post-production.

What a jam-packed day it was yesterday! Starting at 8.30am, cast and crew met at the Orkney Street Enterprise Centre to film our PITS cell scenes with Maya and Alexis, played by Ellen Patterson and Innes Anderson. Everybody worked really hard to make sure we shot all of our scenes in time before moving onto the Hub at Pacific Drive to film the opening and closing of episode 6…
