Cops and Monsters Volume 2 – Casting and Crew Information

editweb-5492

With 6 episodes currently released, and our 7th in post-production, we have been receiving quite a few messages about Volume 2, and in particular, when are we going to be casting for it.

At the moment we still have 2 more episodes for Volume 1 to crowdfund, shoot and release. The first of which will be funded (we hope!) between February 6th and March 6th and will then be shot on the 22nd of April. We hope to crowdfund the final episode of Volume 1 between April and May, shooting the final episode in May.

Our Volume 2 plans aren’t concrete and we are in prep to hold story-lining sessions with established TV writers and plan what the second volume will consist of. From there we will figure out the budget for each episode, who the characters are going to be and then try to raise the money. Only then can we start casting for the new episodes.

So at the very earliest you’ll hear about casting opportunities will be this Summer. If this changes we’ll post about it here, on our Twitter page and Facebook page.

This is very much the case for writers on the show too. Until we have the opportunity to story-line, plan how many episodes there are going to be and when we might shoot them, we can’t commit to any new writers. However if you’d like to submit an original spec script (i.e not a Cops and Monsters-related script) for consideration please contact us at this address.

A second Volume will not be possible if we don’t complete Volume 1 and if we don’t raise enough money to do so. If you want to help make this happen then be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel and share it with everybody you can and come February 6th check out our crowdfunding campaign and let everybody know about that too.

Thank you to everybody for their kind, brilliant support so far. We honestly wouldn’t have a show without you.

Casting Announcement – Joanna Harte

screen-shot-2016-11-21-at-20-43-08

Due to scheduling conflicts, we’ve cast Joanna Harte in the role of Astrid Bennett in our upcoming Christmas episode, “Astrid’s Secret”, which we are filming this weekend.

Joanna had this to say about joining the cast –

I am delighted to be joining Cops and Monsters for the Christmas Special, Astrid is a gem of a role, with her dark secret, can’t wait to get my teeth stuck into it!”

2016 has been a busy year for Joanna, touring with “Mums the Word”, appearing in various commercials and short films and most recently working on Outlander series 3.
Previous TV credits include Casualty, City Lights, Black Eyes, Bergerac along with many theatre credits. Joanna is a graduate from The Royal Scottish Conservatoire, previous to her acting career Joanna had been a professional dancer working in many of the UK’s No 1 touring theatres.
In the last 12 months Joanna returned to acting after focussing her time on her 3 children but now they can all get to school on time! She is throwing herself full throttle back into performing and finds the world of web series an exciting concept to be part of.
We’re looking forward to working with Joanna on the Christmas episode.

Casting Announcement – Rowan Birkett

rowan-birkett

With under 2 weeks until we film our Christmas special, “Astrid’s Secret”, we can now officially announce that actress Rowan Birkett has joined our cast.

Rowan will be playing Catherine Bennett, daughter of Astrid, in our next episode.

Here’s what Rowan had to say:

I’m an actress that couldn’t afford drama school so have a degree in Psychology. I’ve recently been down in London performing in a site specific theatre piece called Sitting Comfortably directed by Geraldine Pilgrim. Next year year I have my first role in a feature film as Mirwen in Kingdom: Fall of Illandrieal. I’m a member of the National Youth Theatre and I’m one of the voice actors in an ongoing sci-fi radio drama called Tin Can. I applied for Cops and Monsters because I saw a casting call and thought I’d make a damn good Zombie. My resting facial expression is naturally vacant so that helps. On the shoot I’m looking forward to meeting some new people who are passionate about what they do, and playing a zombie. Though admittedly I like to think I’d be on the surviving side when the eventual apocalypse does take place. I guess we’ll see.

Filming takes place on the 26th of November and we aim to get the episode online in time for Christmas.

We’re casting for a Scottish-based actress to play a zombie daughter in our Christmas episode. Information is below. If you’re interested please e-mail your CV, headshot and showreel to castings@sillyweefilms.co.uk.
“Cops and Monsters” is an award-winning, on-going supernatural drama following the cases of the Paranormal Investigation Team Scotland.
We’re shooting our Christmas episode in Scotland on the 26th of November and we are looking for Scottish-based actresses to audition for the role of Catherine Bennett, a 20-year old woman who has been turned into a zombie.
We’re looking for self-tapes to be sent by the 8th of November.
This is a paid position. Offering minimum wage for the day. We are only looking for actresses based in Scotland due to our budget.
The character is a wild zombie the entire time and a lot of physical acting is required.
The script is written by Roland Moore, an award winning writer who writes for Doctors and the hit BBC series, “Land Girls”.
Simon Weir (River City, The Acid House) and Wanda Opalinska (Peaky Blinders, Doctor Who) will appear in the episode as the two leads.

Introducing Wanda Opalinska – Christmas Special Casting

With a month to go until we shoot our Christmas episode, “Astrid’s Secret”, by Roland Moore, we can now officially announce actress Wanda Opalinska, who will be playing the titular Astrid in the episode.

Wanda recent TV work includes: Silent Witness, Home Fires, Raised by Wolves. Other TV work includes: Peaky Blinders, The Vote and The Trials of Jimmy Rose.

She can currently be seen in the film ‘A Monster Calls’ and is a series regular in the Welsh language drama ‘Parch’.

As for why she’d like to play Astrid:

“I’ve not done a lot of Sci-Fi (aside from playing Justine in Faction Paradox, where I thoroughly enjoyed battling Sutekh), so this is a lovely opportunity to immerse myself in another world.

And who wouldn’t want to be in a series titled ‘Cops and Monsters’?”

We’re currently £498 away from being able to make the Christmas episode happen on our Indieigogo Campaign so if you’d like to help us you can check it out by clicking here.

The Latest News

So what’s the latest news with Cops and Monsters?

Our editor Anne Nicholson is working hard on locking the picture for episode 5, “Revolution in a Teacup”. Once this is achieved, it’ll be sent off for visual effects, music and sound design. We’ll then release a private link to all of our episode 5 backers and prepare the DVDs of episodes 1-5 to send out to those who purchased the perk in our crowdfunding campaign.

Episode 6, “Fight the Bite”, will then be edited and the same procedure will be followed.

Episodes 5 and 6 will be released to the public in due course. “Revolution in a Teacup” will likely be released near the end of October, and we will release episode 6 publicly in early 2017 to keep you going until we can shoot the final episode of volume 1 in Spring.

All perks from our two recent crowdfunding campaigns that are finished/ready are being packed up and we’ll start posting them out early next week.

This weekend we’ll be at MCM Scotland to promote the series and our Q & A Panel will be on Saturday at 1pm in the Vidfest section.

We’re featured in this month’s issue of “Doctor Who Magazine” in the “Beyond the TARDIS” section as Sophie Aldred stars in episode 5 as vampire leader, Lady Audrey MacDairmid.

As you can see from the image above we’re hoping to shoot our Christmas episode this November if we can raise £1050 to do so. It’ll star Simon Weir as PITS Commander Norris Fletcher and a yet-to-be cast actress as PITS agent Astrid Bennett.

And that’s all of our news!
