Series creator Fraser Coull and star Innes Anderson (Alexis) were invited onto US Doctor Who podcast MarkWho42 to chat about the show and what it was like working with Sophie Aldred (Ace from Doctor Who).
We’ve added behind the scenes stills from our Christmas episode, “Astrid’s Secret”, penned by Roland Moore, in our Gallery. Thanks to Digi Eye Media for providing us with the stills.
With just 23 days until Christmas we thought we’d treat you to a little teaser of our upcoming Christmas episode, “Astrid’s Secret”, starring Simon Weir, Joanna Harte and Rowan Birkett. Written by Roland Moore the episode introduces us to PITS agent Astrid Bennett whose world is rocked upside down when the PITS Commander himself, Norris Fletcher, pops by for a visit during the holidays…
We’ll be releasing the episode before the 25th of December.
Episode 5, “Revolution in a Teacup”, is nearly finished and will be released shortly.
Episode 6, “Fight the Bite” will be released in the New Year.
With under 2 weeks until we film our Christmas special, “Astrid’s Secret”, we can now officially announce that actress Rowan Birkett has joined our cast.
Rowan will be playing Catherine Bennett, daughter of Astrid, in our next episode.
Here’s what Rowan had to say:
“I’m an actress that couldn’t afford drama school so have a degree in Psychology. I’ve recently been down in London performing in a site specific theatre piece called Sitting Comfortably directed by Geraldine Pilgrim. Next year year I have my first role in a feature film as Mirwen in Kingdom: Fall of Illandrieal. I’m a member of the National Youth Theatre and I’m one of the voice actors in an ongoing sci-fi radio drama called Tin Can. I applied for Cops and Monsters because I saw a casting call and thought I’d make a damn good Zombie. My resting facial expression is naturally vacant so that helps. On the shoot I’m looking forward to meeting some new people who are passionate about what they do, and playing a zombie. Though admittedly I like to think I’d be on the surviving side when the eventual apocalypse does take place. I guess we’ll see.“
Filming takes place on the 26th of November and we aim to get the episode online in time for Christmas.
It won’t be long now until we release episode 5 of our web-series, in fact we plan to show “Revolution in a Teacup” to the world by the end of November!
Continuing the story that we started with “The New Recruit”, Maya Hedges searches for her kidnapped colleague, leading her to question vampire leader Lady Audrey MacDairmid, with goody-two-shoes Grace Mackenzie on her tail to stop her from doing anything stupid.
Meanwhile The Cult of Many Faces ups his game of terror against the members of the Paranormal Investigation Team, releasing his killer werewolf out into the world to strike again…
Starring Ellen Patterson, Simon Weir, Billy Kirkwood, Kenny Boyle and Innes Anderson with guest stars Sophie Aldred, Mhairi Calvey, James Payton and Rachel Teate. Written by James T Harding.

Episode 5 will be released to all of our backers first before being uploaded to our YouTube channel.

Guest stars include Katrina Bryan, Leona Vaughan, Rachel Teate, Tam Toye, Matt Robertson and Chris Bain.

“Revolution in a Teacup”, our 5th episode of Cops and Monsters, is currently in post-production.
Leila Dean, our latest visual effects artist to join the team, is currently working on the effects for the new episode, which means we are one step closer to having the episode ready for release.
Episode 5, written by James T Harding, will see Maya Hedges frantically searching for Martin Carmichael, who has been kidnapped by The Cult of Many Faces, leading her to Lady Audrey MacDairmid (Sophie Aldred), who might just be able to help her case. Meanwhile Alexis is confronted with a face from her past, forcing her to deal with her future in ways she didn’t predict.
Sophie Aldred guest stars as vampire leader Lady MacDairmid
James Payton stars as werewolf activist David Brannigan
Wolfblood star Rachel Teate makes her debut as Grace Mackenzie, a goody-two-shoes PITS agent.

We’re casting for a Scottish-based actress to play a zombie daughter in our Christmas episode. Information is below. If you’re interested please e-mail your CV, headshot and showreel to castings@sillyweefilms.co.uk.
“Cops and Monsters” is an award-winning, on-going supernatural drama following the cases of the Paranormal Investigation Team Scotland.
We’re shooting our Christmas episode in Scotland on the 26th of November and we are looking for Scottish-based actresses to audition for the role of Catherine Bennett, a 20-year old woman who has been turned into a zombie.
We’re looking for self-tapes to be sent by the 8th of November.
This is a paid position. Offering minimum wage for the day. We are only looking for actresses based in Scotland due to our budget.
The character is a wild zombie the entire time and a lot of physical acting is required.
The script is written by Roland Moore, an award winning writer who writes for Doctors and the hit BBC series, “Land Girls”.
Simon Weir (River City, The Acid House) and Wanda Opalinska (Peaky Blinders, Doctor Who) will appear in the episode as the two leads.
With a month to go until we shoot our Christmas episode, “Astrid’s Secret”, by Roland Moore, we can now officially announce actress Wanda Opalinska, who will be playing the titular Astrid in the episode.
Wanda recent TV work includes: Silent Witness, Home Fires, Raised by Wolves. Other TV work includes: Peaky Blinders, The Vote and The Trials of Jimmy Rose.
She can currently be seen in the film ‘A Monster Calls’ and is a series regular in the Welsh language drama ‘Parch’.
As for why she’d like to play Astrid:
“I’ve not done a lot of Sci-Fi (aside from playing Justine in Faction Paradox, where I thoroughly enjoyed battling Sutekh), so this is a lovely opportunity to immerse myself in another world.
And who wouldn’t want to be in a series titled ‘Cops and Monsters’?”
We’re currently £498 away from being able to make the Christmas episode happen on our Indieigogo Campaign so if you’d like to help us you can check it out by clicking here.
