Episode 4 is heading to our editor’s tomorrow evening and then visual effects will start their job too.

All going well we will have episode 4 online by the end of April/beginning of May.

As mentioned previously, sadly Sophie Aldred had to withdraw from filming due to a family matter however we are pleased to announce that she will feature in episode 5 alongside Braveheart star Mhairi Calvey and Wolfblood/Boy Meets Girl star Rachel Teate.

Episode 4 Is Wrapped!

Screen Shot 2016-03-27 at 19.54.04

Episode 4, “In Crimson”, is officially wrapped!

After 2 days of filming, support from everybody who backed our Kickstarter campaign, and an extremely hard working cast and crew, we have finished filming episode 4 of our series.

Cast and crew worked tirelessly over two days to get all of our scenes filmed so we can now send them to our editor, Anne Nicholson, who will cut together the episode. Then it will be sent to Robert Newth who will add and mix in sound effects and compose the music as our visual effects artist Gareth Knight creates the effects to build into our near-future, sci-fi world.

Unfortunately due to unforeseen family issues, Sophie Aldred was unable to film her scenes, and as such, Scottish actress Karen Bartke replaced Sophie on the day. Karen is a long-time collaborator with the team and recently starred in the BBC Scotland comedy, “Scot Squad”. Karen has also just recently won awards for her work on BBC Radio Scotland, details of which can be found here.

Sophie will now be starring in episode 5, which we hope will go into production in July, crowdfunding depending.

We will be posting updates on our progress and we hope that episode 4 will be available to watch online by the end of April/beginning of May. We will be sharing official behind the scenes stills and video between now and the release of the episode on our site, Twitter and Facebook.

Episode 4 – Filming Has Begun!

Screen Shot 2016-03-19 at 21.57.56

Yesterday we officially kicked off filming on episode 4 of Cops and Monsters!

Cast members Kenny Boyle (Martin Carmichael) and Billy Kirkwood (The Cult of Many Faces) met for the first time as they filmed their scenes together for the episode on a quiet road in Partick, Glasgow.

New makeup artists Leah and Nadia joined us to make some gruesome makeup work on one of our stars while we worked out and filmed the scenes.

Our photographer Sonja was snapping away with a mix of publicity and behind the scenes stills and we will be sharing them with you soon.

Claire our producer has been working extremely hard to work within our budget to make sure costumes, makeup, props (and lunch for the crew!) is organised for next weekend’s shoot where we will be introducing new cast member Innes Anderson (Alexis) into the world of Cops and Monsters.

We’re cutting together a little teaser from yesterday’s footage and will have it online shortly!

Until next time…

Casting Announcement!

Screen Shot 2016-03-03 at 17.21.04

We are pleased to announce that Scottish actress Mhairi Calvey has joined our cast!

As episode 4 is currently in pre-production, due to shoot on March 19th and 26th, we’re looking slightly ahead as we build our Volume 1 arc, consisting of episodes 4-7.

Mhairi will make her debut in episode 5, which will be written by James T Harding. All we can say at this stage is that Mhairi is playing Zoe, a conflicted vampire with a troubling past who finds herself embroiled with Maya Hedges (Ellen Patterson) and the PITS team.

Mhairi is best known for playing Young Murrin in the blockbuster “Braveheart”, “Any Minute Now” and “Gemini”. She also has a full slate of films this year and 2017!

Here’s what Mhairi had to say about joining our series:

I’m delighted to be working with Fraser and his team again. It’s important to me to support other Scottish film makers and having previously worked with Fraser I know he runs a professional set and has a great team behind him. I cant wait to work with them all again.

We hope to bring new updates soon but in the meantime you can watch ALL of our current videos below:

Episode 4 is funded!

Billy and Colin Enjoying'Fun Time' at the 'Cops and Monsters' Filming in Glasgow - 19 January 2014

As of 8.12am this morning episode 4 is officially funded!

Thank you to everybody who pledged to our campaign, shared the link and generally supported our show.

Cops and Monsters is a completely independent series with no official funding from governing bodies, so we rely solely on support from the generosity of the people who are willing to donate and pledge their money to us.

Episode 4 will be shot on the 19th and 26th of March in Glasgow before being handed over to our editor Anne Nicholson who will then edit the footage together, colour it, grade it and send it off to Neil Rowe who will create the visual effects and Robert Newth will create the sound effects and score the episode.

We hope to release episode 4 by the end of April. We hope to squeeze some money from our latest campaign to shoot episode 5, however the script has not been finished so we won’t know what we need until a little later. Realistically we may need to run a post-production crowdfunding campaign to finish it, but we’ll worry about that later.

Our producer Claire Mcguire will now work on the schedule for episode 4, sorting out props, costumes, makeup, filming locations etc. We’ll post update photos/videos, and any comic con appearances we manage to arrange.

Thank you!

Casting Announcement – Who Is Playing Alexis?

Screen Shot 2016-02-25 at 20.13.56

We are pleased to announce that Scottish-born actress Innes Anderson will be playing the role of Alexis in episode 4 of Cops and Monsters.

The last time we saw Alexis she was only 16 and played by Doctor Who star Caitlin Blackwood. By the time we catch up with her in episode 4 she’ll be older, less in control of the werewolf inside, and struggling to find her humanity…

Innes has been involved with drama, dance and musical theatre groups around Inverness and the Highlands from a very young age.

Between the ages of 11 and 15 Innes was heavily involved with the Youth Music Theatre UK organisation and spent her summers travelling up and down the country from Aberdeen to Plymouth performing and collaborating on many different shows.

When she reached 16 Innes auditioned and gained a place at the Musical Theatre Course at the Dance School of Scotland for two year of intensive MT training. It was at The Dance School where she met some incredibly inspiring tutors and discovered that her true passions lay in acting.

She then gained a full scholarship to The Academy of the Live and Recorded Arts in the North of England, during which she’s performed classical roles in ‘Antony and Cleopatra’, ‘The Comedy of Errors’, ‘Candide’ and ‘As You Like It’. As well many more roles in contemporary pieces such as Louise in Road and Wendla in Spring Awakening as well as working a lot with TV, film and radio.

Since graduating from ALRA in October 2015 with a BA Hons degree in Acting she has returned to Scotland to continue her theatre and film journey on home soil.

Filming of episode 4, “In Crimson”, by Ian Smith and Fraser Coull, takes place on the 19th and 26th of March in Glasgow.
